The Utah Jazz are now two seasons removed from the post season, and are looking at making the move back there, through wise moves in the draft. Since John Stockton retired the Jazz have struggled to fill the point guard vacancy he created when he left. Many have come none have succeeded. Names like Arroyo, Eisley, Lopez, and McLeod. Otherwise known as, who? According to The Salt Lake Tribune, the Jazz are in “intense discussions” with the Blazers on the subject of swapping draft picks. So far this seems like the most logical of trades.

Jazz trade:
Number 6 (Gerald Green or Martell Webster)
Matt Harpring (expiring contract)
Kirk Snyder
Number 51 (Marcin Gortat)

Blazers trade:

Number 3 (Deron Williams)
Ruben Patterson

At number 27 the Jazz should be able to pick up Luther Head, who is a great talent, but he doesn’t have the height to play beside Williams. Although it would be nice to see them play together in the pros. Julius Hodge would be a great choice here, and is great at taking the ball to the rim, and is an exceptional passer.

At number 34 the Jazz need to look at their weakness at center. Randolph Morris seems to be the big sleeper to me. If he is available, take him. I can see him turning into Jamal Magloire, even though he looks just like Ervin Johnson (not the magical one).

The Jazz should look at having a line-up off:

C- Mehmet Okur/ Randolph Morris/ Jaron Collins
F- Carlos Boozer/ Kris Humphries/ Curtis Borchardt
F- Andrei Kirilenko/ Ruben Patterson
G- Deron Williams/ Keith McLeod*
G- Gordon Giricek/ Julius Hodge*

*Raja Bell could resigned, and it is not definite yet that Raul Lopez will be gone.
